Very solid assembly that will protect your tractor's PTOThis unit arrived without a retainer ring groove on the output shaft.A retainer ring can not be placed on the input shaft because it is completely solid. So if either of the “shear” bolts snap, for any reason, this will allow the PTO shaft and clutch to possibly become unattached from one another. If both “shear” bolts snap, this might allow the clutch to become a projectile.I have not installed or even adjusted this unit yet bc I do not feel safe installing it on my machine without the added protection of the $1 retainer ring.If I have to pay to have this groove installed, then that service alone could easily cost me more than the clutch itself. Fortunately I have a friend who can help.I will disassemble the clutch and have the groove installed and then reassemble it using specs that I acquired elsewhere because it did not arrive with any type of data sheet.Overall the unit looks solid but it is missing a safety feature that I feel is mandatory. Kinda like brakes on a car, I wouldn’t drive a car without breaks. So why would I install a unit that sits less than 10’ behind my head and weighs a good 20lbs that spins at 540 RPMs that could easily become a projectile when a situation occurs. (Not if but When). In addition this $85 part could jeopardize a $300 PTO Shaft and my bush hog or tractor. So Much Risk involved on an $85 component missing a $1 retaining ring.My life and my equipment is not worth the money saved on this unit in my opinion. After I modify the brand new part on a metal lathe, only then will I feel comfortable putting into service. It should of arrived with the groove already installed. The clutch assembly is a great product but, it only comes with 1 Grade 5 bolt, nut, and washer. So expect to have to purchase the Grade 8 bolts, nuts, and washers to install it correctly. This product fit without any issues and was easy to adjust the spring tension. I haven’t used it a whole lot yet but so far I’m glad I bought it.I installed this clutch on my 6' rotory mower, there was no instructions, but easy to figure out. Adjusting the clutch:I called the seller and he e- mailed the settings for the clutch. After the proper adjustments it works just fine.I can't wait until summer to mow again...OK. I guess I'll join the long line of customers that had to pry a set of instructions from the seller's hands. The unit looks functional, I'll know when we mount it on our rotary mower. I don't know why I expected to get a set of instructions, particularly torque settings for different horse powers, maybe it was the fact that someone had uploaded a set of instructions to the page selling this thing (Brooks' brother?). Got the item in an EBay package, go figure, as I bought it through Amazon. I'll sign off now, and go see if I can get a set of instructions. They have the European equivalent of this slip clutch (not Chinese), backed by great reviews on Agri Supply.price rightWorks well so far. Packaging did break apart and bolt were lost, so don’t count on them being there
